It Has Begun

Initial votes are posted over on the Build-an-Alt Project. I really have no idea how this is going to turn out, but I'm excited to see. I'm sure I'll definitely learn something from it, at the least. Please, spread the word and get some votes pumpin!

Now that the project has its own seperate place to exist in the e-cosmos, we'll now return you to your regularly scheduled Kowness. Part 2 of regular raid stuff is Wednesday nights, so I'll plan on finishing that up tonight and start bringing things down to earth with Kow posting again tomorrow or Friday. Dig?

You Haz Spoken

So, votes are in, and as much as you can call anything "overwhelming" with 21 votes, it seems the build an alt idea is an overwhelming success. 16 for, 5 against, 0 neutral. I'm really excited to go about this and see where it takes us. Interaction is a beautiful thing and I hope that even though I'll be pushing the keys that control the avatar, your choices and opinions will cause you to feel some attachment to the character that YOU are going to create and you feel some sense of accomplishment at taking part in a community project... or that you feel some nefarious joy at wrecking it, should you be of such wont (and shame on you! but only a little).

Issues/concerns/etc

A. Deekow is alive and well and patiently waiting for 3.1. Still raiding weekly on Runetotem with J!NX on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, 8pm to Mid PST. Come say hi!

B. Since I honestly don't know the differences between Wordpress and Blogspot, I've decided to keep things here at deekow.net on blogspot, and I'll use Wordpress for the build-an-alt project. Can see it here, but be warned, I haven't even started building it yet, but feel free to set up your bookmarks and RSS feeds.

C. First votes for build-an-alt will be up by Wednesday morning. May or may not have the site designed by then, but will at least make progress. I'm NOT a web designer and it shows. Feel free to offer comments on the site design; this is OUR project, not mine.

D. I'm anticipating playing at least two scheduled blocks of time a week. It's not going to be my main, and when 3.1 comes around, I'll be running DeeKow crazy, I'm sure. But, I do want it to be scheduled so that you know when the character's running around and you can come say hi... or even better, help me get instance groups ;)

E. Build-an-alt, deekow.net, etc are all going to become part of a bigger project soon. This project needs a logo. I have no visually artistic skills to speak of. I have no money to speak of. Not a good mix. But, this is going to be huge (at least for me), so it's something I take very seriously. Solutions needed.

F. Tell your friends about the project. The more participation, the better this works. Perhaps... just perhaps... we could even start a five man build-a-group project. Hmm... Well, all I know is the more people we have, the more we know where this can realistically go, or we'll know sooner that it's a bust. Either way, moar = gewd.

Snowball Effect

We're featured on The Scourge - in his new weekly featured Death Knight article - Featured Death Knight - Deekow. Simple questionaire, only takes a couple minutes of your time, and if you play a Death Knight, let the world know why... Scourge has been blogging almost as long as I have (by like a matter of days) and keeps pumpin out the juicy good stuff. Keep up the good work!

As far as I go, still working on a couple really big things. The ideas keep flowin' and it's all gellin' rather well, at least on the idea side. Making ideas happen is a whole 'nother story, though. Don't suppose you could spot us a couple hundred thousand bucks, USD, eh? Bummer, have to go about it the hard way then...

Won a little trivia contest from @SeanGailey (that's Mr. J!NX, himself) on Twitter and got a nice sportin' new T-shirt from their new Identity (Spring '09) line. New T-Shirt - Though, I wear it MUCH better than Mustachio there does, as you'll see soon enough. Actually gonna be taking a couples pic with YP since she got this shirt for her birthday as an added bonus. Seriously, if you like gamer wear, check J!NX out, new stuff happening all the time and you NEED to be earning some gold and xp to get free swag. Could even get to them from the banner ads at the bottom and side of my page... I like swag, too, ya know?

Happy Birthday YP! and other less important stuff

Well, from the voting it looks like "Project Kreate-a-Kow" is going to be a go. By all means, keep voting, and even better, tell me why you're voting the way you are. I'm gonna take a few days to plan some things out. I really need to figure out the "how" of it all so it doesn't become tedious and remains very interactive. Obviously you don't want "should I wear this slightly different color pair of pants with the exact same stats" kinds of posts, and "should I run this instance" stuff could get mired in difficulty with even finding a group. I'm pretty excited about all this though, even though I'm basically gonna be the autopilot, and you'll be giving the directions.

In other stuffs, we celebrated YP's birthday yesterday, and all things considered, I think it went off as well as I could have hoped. FedEx dropped the ball on delivering the MAIN present, futher muckers, but flowers got delivered this time (long story about our first Valentine's Day and flowers never showed... never even left the store). Other gifts were good, and we put on the proverbial (but not literal) apron and made YP some yummy Honey Lemon Almond Chicken with asparagus and dirty rice for num nums. Num. We didn't make a cake because a) we forgot when we were at the store earlier (no car makes it difficult for return trips to store) and b) the "real" bday party is at her parents house on Saturday, where there WILL be cake. We did, however, go to Cold Stone Creamery where myself and the daughter child had Birthday Cake ice cream, and the BDay brat herself had cheesecake ice cream. Overall... while I wouldn't call it a smash hit, we did pamper/spoil YP, she knows she's loved and knows it was totally her day, so we'll call it a definite success. *mwah* Love ya baby... oh, snap... I forgot spankins.... >.>

Contemplating the Future...

So, as I sit pondering the future of Deekow.net, or whatever it ends up as, given the possibilities, I have some ideas. I want to blog, I want to write, I want to meme, I want to provide entertainment, I want to provide a service, I want you to know who I am, I want to know who you are. I have one uber-ultra-super-secret idea that is so utterly awesomeness that I can't tell you about it, cuz you'd steal it and I'd be hosed. But, it's that good, and I just need to talk to some folks first. Other than that, I have some other ideas, too, that as I try to write them out, I realize I want them to be a surprise, so I'm not sharing them either. Man... what a crazy world we live in where I can't share my ideas with you. On my blog. Where you should be able to see my ideas.

Let me ask you this: how keen would you be to build my alt? If I made a WoW toon and played it, but left all the decision making to you, would you do it? If by simple vote you could utterly alter the fate of a future raiding toon, would you take the time to click the radial button to make the choice? Let's just see if you would... new voting poll over there --->
