So, votes are in, and as much as you can call anything "overwhelming" with 21 votes, it seems the build an alt idea is an overwhelming success. 16 for, 5 against, 0 neutral. I'm really excited to go about this and see where it takes us. Interaction is a beautiful thing and I hope that even though I'll be pushing the keys that control the avatar, your choices and opinions will cause you to feel some attachment to the character that YOU are going to create and you feel some sense of accomplishment at taking part in a community project... or that you feel some nefarious joy at wrecking it, should you be of such wont (and shame on you! but only a little).
Issues/concerns/etc
A. Deekow is alive and well and patiently waiting for 3.1. Still raiding weekly on Runetotem with J!NX on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, 8pm to Mid PST. Come say hi!
B. Since I honestly don't know the differences between Wordpress and Blogspot, I've decided to keep things here at deekow.net on blogspot, and I'll use Wordpress for the build-an-alt project. Can see it
here, but be warned, I haven't even started building it yet, but feel free to set up your bookmarks and RSS feeds.
C. First votes for build-an-alt will be up by Wednesday morning. May or may not have the site designed by then, but will at least make progress. I'm NOT a web designer and it shows. Feel free to offer comments on the site design; this is OUR project, not mine.
D. I'm anticipating playing at least two scheduled blocks of time a week. It's not going to be my main, and when 3.1 comes around, I'll be running DeeKow crazy, I'm sure. But, I do want it to be scheduled so that you know when the character's running around and you can come say hi... or even better, help me get instance groups ;)
E. Build-an-alt, deekow.net, etc are all going to become part of a bigger project soon. This project needs a logo. I have no visually artistic skills to speak of. I have no money to speak of. Not a good mix. But, this is going to be huge (at least for me), so it's something I take very seriously. Solutions needed.
F. Tell your friends about the project. The more participation, the better this works. Perhaps... just perhaps... we could even start a five man build-a-group project. Hmm... Well, all I know is the more people we have, the more we know where this can realistically go, or we'll know sooner that it's a bust. Either way, moar = gewd.
