The right timing of learning a new language
There are often many reasons why people don’t want to learn a new language. One of the most frequent obstacles is a busy everyday life. “I have always plenty to see. I have not right time to study,” says Reinald, a graphic designer from Belgium. But many have discovered that it is enriching and fun to learn if they take their time.
The good news is, that there are many specialized courses in the world which are targeted different segments. Many language schools have specific programs for 50s+ as well as business courses. And it may be an opportunity to either experience some great weather or beautiful cities by choosing an English school in Miami or a Spanish school in Granada.
Another disincentive to learn a foreign language is, if you speak one of the major languages as your first language. ‘Being a native speaker of English means that they do not really need another language,” admitted Neil, a British editor. “But when one goes in the process to learn language, you get an extra dimension of appreciation, which is a great pleasure. It also means that you can read great literature in the original language which is a whole new experience” Still others believe that they are too old to learn something new. “In my age is very hard to learn a new language,” objects Daniel, who is a manager and in the late 50s. But millions of other adult learners have discovered that is it never too late to learn a new language.
