Starting a wine cheese Party

Cheese and wine when paired out bring out the best in each other, even experts say there isn’t a better substitute for each other.

When setting up a tasty wine cheese party there are a few things that need to be known.  First off don’t hold to much credibility to those authors that sell you those expensive wine cheese books.  Bottom line is its all about the personal taste preference, so if you enjoy your basic sandwich cheese and a boxed wine than that’s perfectly fine.  When hosting a party on the other hand you need to cater to everyone’s taste buds.  So not everyone will enjoy your cheddar cheese and box wine, you will need to follow some basic guidelines.

When choosing cheeses that have more of a stronger flavor and are a bit softer, you will want to match it up with a white wine.  One example would be a sharp aged cheddar cheese accompanied by a glass of white Zinfandel.  If you have more of a harder cheese with a milder flavor you will want a red wine.  One example would be an aged swiss cheese accompanied by a glass of Merlot wine.  The stronger the cheese you choose the sweeter the wine should be.  If you are ever uncertain remember a sweet fruitier white wine, such as a desert wine will work the best with wider ranges of cheese.

There are many different orderves you can serve at your party other than cheese to go along with your wine.   You can serve little bagels with cream cheese on top, preferably flavorless because you don’t wan to take away from the wine, or crackers with your favorite cheese on top. There is also a cheese called wine cheese, which is a soft cheese and during the process of making the cheese maker adds some wine to it.  It might be a red or white wine.  Wine cheese goes great with your favorite crackers or bagel bites, and can be a big hit at your party.

So enjoy planning for your wine party, and remember its personal taste preference so don’t go by the book on everything.  Try something new, who knows you might start a new trend and find yourself writing your own book.
