Get Rid of Cockroaches!

I can totally sympathize with you if you are experiencing a cockroach infestation. These little, or should I say huge, bugs are some of the worst pests to try to exterminate. I speak from experience, since my first apartment had them big time. I spend every single day that I lived there trying to get rid of cockroaches. You might not be too thrilled to hear that I finally rid myself of them when I moved. Now, I’m not saying this is what you should do. I do have a lot of tips to give you to keep them under control, if not eliminating them entirely.

If you live in an apartment complex, it is much, much harder to get rid of cockroaches. The reason why is because the apartments are all interlinked. So it won’t matter if one tenant gets rid of them in their apartment if the guy next door doesn’t make any effort to get rid of them. They will just come into your apartment through the vents, the plumbing pipes, and even literally from under the front door. It won’t even matter if the management orders to have all the units fumigated if not all the tenants do their part by following the instructions to the letter. This is what happened to me. I had an exterminator there so often that we knew each other by name. It didn’t help because the people above me as well as to the side of me never cleaned the dead ones up.

Enough said about that. There are things you can do, even if you live in an apartment complex, to keep them under control or even get rid of cockroaches completely. Living in an apartment complex just seems to make it harder. First of all, keep your apartment as clean as possible. Make a habit of spring cleaning your apartment every week. This might sound extreme, but if you have a giant cockroach fall on you when you pull a box off the top shelf of your apartment, you won’t think it’s extreme at all. Keeping your home as clean as you can possibly get it is the best step to keeping them under control.

Also, have an exterminator come and spray your apartment. It does help, some, since it provides a layer of protection in your apartment. Cockroaches will stay away from your apartment so long as there is any poison lingering. When you try to get rid of cockroaches, approach it with the attitude that you will. Hopefully you won’t have to end up moving, though, like I did. Good luck!
